There are so many factors that determine how many treatments you’ll need. These include: whether the tattoo was done by an amateur or a professional; what type of ink was used; how good your immune system is at clearing the ink; and finally, the color of the tattoo.
A laser is concentrated above the skin, focusing tremendous energy over pockets of ink trapped in the skin. The laser shatters the ink particles, making them smaller and smaller, liberating the ink from the cells so your immune system can carry away the tiny ink droplets. The body naturally expels the ink particles in about 6 to 8 weeks.
Topical anesthetic may be administered to increase patient comfort, although this is not routinely needed.
There is no downtime to any RevLite® SI procedure, though some patients mat experience erythema that typically resolves within 24 hours.
Most unwanted pigment will significantly lighten or clear in 2-3 sessions.
